I’m really starting to just scratch my head at white people.
A rapper Lord Jamar had said that “Hip Hop is black music and white people are GUESTS in hip hop.”
Now tons of white people are saying he’s racist for saying that. Are they fucking serious?!?!? How is he being racist!?
My response to those white people:
Hip Hop IS black music. We started it! It was something for us to come together, it was symbolic etc! White rappers ARE guests. Those same ppl saying he’s racist don’t even know who the fuck Kool Herc is!
He basically started hip hop!
I mean DAMN can us black people have something of ours that represents us! White people just don’t understand. School boy Q even said that the comment was racist. I can’t believe guys like him are just letting our music slip away like that. Something we used to represent us! Even the Pro black/Conscious/Afrocentric rap.
It’s in our genes. We didn’t have the expensive studio equipment…so what did we do instead?
We beat on drums, used our knuckles to make beats, we beat boxed with our throats, we free styled off the tops of our heads! White people can be fans of rap it’s cool. Even white rappers I’m completely fine with.
My point is to those white people crying out racism over what Lord Jamar said…Do your fucking research and understand the music and the foundation of it. What
the music stood for and where it came from. We don’t have privilege like you do. You don’t know shit about the struggle
So tired of black rappers just handing over our shit.
White people ARE guests in hip hop. Let’s us keep something that’s ours for once! Our leaders get assassinated, our groups used to fight for us have been dismantled (Original Black Panthers) etc.
Shit! Stop crying about the quote being racist.
One white guy in response to the quote even went as far as saying ” I’m white, bisexual etc… And he’s a racist.” That’s beyond lam
What the hell does your sexuality have to do with that quote? Ugh!
I just had to let that out.
Rap is black music. Some of the rap today I’m not the biggest fan of but the foundation is what matters.!
One last thing… NO you cannot say nigga. Stop asking black people to gets a pass.

- "V.U. & NICO" (1967)
- "White Light/White Heat" (1968)
- "The Velvet Underground" (1969)
- "Loaded" (1970)
